About Me

Dr. Abhilasha Gaoture

Dr. Abhilasha Gaoture (Behere) is a distinguished figure in the field of pediatrics (बालरोगतज्ञ) in chandrapur district of Maharashtra state. Dr. Abhilasha is popularly known as Tai, among people. Dr. Abhilasha completed her MBBS in 2001 from Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGMC) (Mayo Hospital), Nagpur and Post Graduation from Seth GS Medical College (KEM Hospital), Mumbai in 2006. Dr. Abhilasha dedicates herself to serving the community through her hospital, “Kilbil,” located near Jubilee High School, Chandrapur. She is a keen advocate of principles of equality, liberty, and fraternity. 

Dr. Abhilasha is actively working for betterment and upliftment of weaker and marginalized people in the society. Dr. Abhilasha organized and led many gatherings and agitations to secure the rights of poor people, municipality contractual sanitation workers, CTPS contractual workers, unemployed youth, project affected victims and victims of man-animal conflict. As realizing and recognizing the importance of education, Dr. Abhilasha is actively working in the education field. She has opened study libraries in many remote villages, gifted books to school children and helped many students beyond her capacity. Dr. Abhilasha’s contribution in the covid-19 period was remarkable; she was the only woman doctor in the city whose hospital was open for poor and the needy people for the nearby villages. She also provided the free online consultation for the patients who are not able to visit the hospital. She and her mother-in-law work together to break the taboos and social stigmas deeply ingrained in the society by organizing SASU SUN Melawa (सास-ूसनु मेळावा).
